Within six months , haG foXr EarEers ZorNing in the Easement of this hotel – all young fellows – and I was “in the money.” From there I expanded my barber shop operations to open a three-chair shop in the St. Francis Hotel in Albany. In addition, I estab- lished a beauty shop in Corvallis and one in Albany. These barber and beauty shops formed a small chain, Zhich , iGentifieG Zith the slogan “A Shoen Shop.” The main idea was to earn money to attend college, but soon I was earn- ing more money than necessary and possibly more money than was good for a student.
