April 11, 1990
     This fall, November 11, the Amerco Family companies will have been four years 
in the hands of people who can most charitably be called ignorant.  They have spent 
millions of dollars on lawyers.  Wealth that I and many others gave of our very 
souls to create.  Their ignorance is 
characterized by fear, prejudice and 
confusion.
Who would have ever imagined that 
the organization would cough up about 
Ten Million dollars for lawyers in a two 
year period.  There is a saying that “too 
much is never enough.”  I keep saying and 
praying that we will all learn from this 
experience and that our lives will be 
enhanced by this knowledge.  I want you 
to know that this is my prayer.
I need to be given some credit 
for what  I have done for my daughters 
and sons and even for my wives.  I have 
tried to be a good husband and father.
Perhaps we will be together again 
as we were last summer.  That was a  
rewarding time for me.

     All of this craziness should never have occurred.  I was so  
ignorant as to the activities of Joe and Mark.  So naive and hopeful.  
Their lives can not be good.
