       I can remember when 
I was ten.  This was near-
ly sixty-four years ago.  
Sounds like a long, long 
time.  I was in the fi fth 
grade at the time.  Number 
ten was not a good year for 
me.  I contracted rheumatic 
fever in November and was 
bedridden for three or four 
months.  I managed to keep 
up on my school work and 
go to the sixth grade with 
my class the next year.  
I was really nine when I 
got sick.  I was ten before 
I was able to get around 
again.  For months I had to 
abstain from manual labor, 
sports etc.  This was 
diff icult for me to do.
     I have always had more 
energy than was good for 
my body.  The reason I got 
rheumatic fever was that my
