The fact that a competitor is pursuing a route
which presently appears to be winning does not
alarm me because I have calculated the best
way to reach the goal, and I stick to the plan.
I learned a lot about winning while picking
strawberries in the Willamette Valley during
my teens. There were always several people
who apparently could pick berries as fast or
faster than I, but I generally managed to come
out on top by working just as hard and fast
during the afternoon as during the morning.
A History of U-Haul (1945-1954)
Nothing in this world can take the place of
persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more
common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost
a proverb. Education will not: the world is
full of educated derelicts. Persistence and
determination alone are omnipotent. The
slogan Press On! has solved and always will
solve the problems of the human race.
Calvin Coolidge
