Dear Bernice and Paula,
I certainly was glad to hear from you kids 
although I have taken my time answering however 
now I don’t feel too spry. I enjoyed the let-
ter a lot write again when convenient. I should 
by all means write Bob Doyle so try to get his 
address to me. I am glad you kids are saving 
some money & I sincerely hope that you will be 
cautious when spending it. Also I can well un-
derstand how Bob feel Re: the Navy even after 
getting better than average advancements. The 
whole damn thing is corrupt & a matter of poli-
tics which is as one might expect but doesn’t 
realize unless he actually sees it.
I have been in bed for three weeks now & 
they let me up today however I am supposed to 
take it easy & lay down when tired. The Doc 
said I would be sent to Corona Calif. to  
convalesce for 3-4 months I guess and I hope  
so anyway since I need a chance to recover.  
It is raining & wet as hell here & I guess cold 
where you are. I am so tired I guess I’ll quit.  
Please give my best regards to Bob in your next 
letter & tell him I think of him every day and 
know that it is mighty tough going out where he 
is & has been for so long.
