     It was a beautiful thing.”
Q The Movers World truck here, when did
you start the Movers World van line?
A Started in 1979. Bought a little small van
line in New York State, and we just started to
grow it, and by the time we got through, we
had a major van line going.
Q Let me show you what’s been marked as
Exhibit No. 5, Mr. Shoen, and that’s another
management bulletin. Could you identify it?
Just briefl y, the date of the bulletin.
A It is March 2, 1961.
Q What is the topic of the bulletin?
A Entering, entering the moving van
business.
Q Now earlier in your testimony yesterday,
I think we talked about Movers World and
how it came on line in 1979. This is 1961.
Why are you thinking about the moving van
business in 1961?
A Because I could see that the natural
thing to do would be to enter the moving busi-
ness so that we could serve the full market,
the full moving market. That was what I could
see, basically it was a, it was a service that,
that our customers were asking for.
Q Did you do anything in 1961 or there-
abouts to start to try and get into the moving
van business?
A Nothing, no action plan, just thinking
about it and discussing it with various mem-
bers of the organization and studying it, you
know, in depth over the years.
Q Was there a particular reason why you
didn’t launch off into it at the time?
A Didn’t have the money. We were, we
really had to save. It took years and years to
save up the money that we - - where I fi nally
got to where I had the kind of fi nancing that
I had in 1986. A lot of people went without
and, and worked hard.
